Why do creditors hound you even when you are on a debt consolidation programmme?
Question:
Answer:
There are some debt consolidation programs that will call the creditors for you. I don't know where you live, but CCCS will take care of creditors harassing you. My wife used them and anytime a creditor called to bug us, she would call them and they took care of it. Try and call the debt consolidation program you are using and they might take care of the creditors for you.
Because that is their job. They gotta earn their living too.
Some of those debt consolitdation companies are not on the up and up. Your creditor may not be getting the payments. I would talk with your credit counselor with whatever company you used and see what's up.
they should'nt if your debt consolidation company has contacted them and told them you are in the plan and what amount and when to expect pyaments from the debt counselor.
If you are using one of the free, non-profit credit counseling services, you should not be getting calls from your creditors. Let your counselor know you are still receiving calls and they should put a stop to it.
If your service is anything else, I would find out right away if your creditors are getting any of your payments. For profit services are sometimes shady and don't always get the cooperation of creditors.
They aren't supposed to. Please contact whoever you are going through for the debt consolidation program and let them know. You pay a certain amount per month and they are supposed to distribute accordingly and be in communicaton with your lenders. That is THEIR job.
The simple answer--
They want their money.. wouldnt you? Just because you are in a program doesnt mean they are not going to ask for money you OWE them.
Naturally you wont give this the best answer because ---I am telling you the truth and not what you want to here.
This is their business trends and they treat the debtors in this way so that a pressure & to discourage further loans if debtor wants may not approach despite good repayment recod. A rough and tough eye always spiralls around debetors with the only objective to clear the dues immediately.
I just got out of a debt consolodation and had not one phone call from anyone. They should not be calling you. How long have you been with the program? if it's been only a month then they may not yet have all the info on your program. definetely find out who you are giving your money too in the meantime.
Many debt consolidation programs are able to settle because they don't pay your creditors and then once the creditors think that you're never going to pay the debt, period, the consolidation program comes and settles it for pennies on the dollar. In the meantime, your credit is totally ruined. You'd be better off to do it yourself. Take a look at www.daveramsey.com.
They are just paid bullies! I did that over 20yrs. ago and they were doing it. Just holdfast to your plan to get things caught up!
The consolidators either havent started paying your creditors or, once you've finished paying, theyll pay the creditors. At the same time some creditors are a bit shady and will still try to receive payment from you too. Either way, you should tell the creditor that you are already making payments through the consolidation program, and/or tell whomever your makling your payments through to contact your creditors.
