Does debt consolidation have any negative effect on your credit rating?

Question:

Answer:
No they do not.
no not if done through another loan that is fixed. Yes if done thruogh a consumer credit couseling company, or bankruptcy courts. In fact CCC is viewed by most new potential lenders as a BK13
I don't know any specific company BUT DO NOT got to a so called "credit repair company". Go to any company that is affiliated or has the name as "Credit Consumer Counseling". Remember the 3 C's and you will be fine. There are some companies that will negotiate to reduce your debt with your creditors and this will affect your credit because what they do is make your credit even worst so that your creditors can reduce your debt and accept a lower payment. When this is done your credit will plummet!

Here is an article from www.ftc.gov that talks about how you can fix your credit on your own without any credit repair companies.

For more information on this article visit to www.Jrealestate.blogspot.com and read the article titled "Credit clinics, can they really help?". You will find it in the December 2005 issue.
Absolutley! I am a mortgage broker and most Lenders look at consumer credit counseling like a bankruptcy.
There is some useful advice here.
