What city should I consider living to work as a Pastry Chef?

Question:
I want a city with a lot of culiary variety and a lot of restaurants

Answer:
I think Denver would be a nice place to live and start a business if you can afford to choose a city of your choice. Salt Lake wouldn't be too bad either. Seattle or San Fran. have a lot of culture and cuisine, of course they are rather expensive places to live and start a business. I'm not sure about back east, furthest east I've lived is Chicago and honestly, I wouldn't recommend anyone moving into the Chicago area. An occasional visit each decade is more than enough for me.
Paris! ok, so if you can't get to Paris I had a lot of fun working in San Francisco and Napa Valley.
Any major city - from Portland Oregon, San Francisco, Chicago, etc... - but keep in mind the cost of living associated with these or any cities and the amount of experience and marketability you have
