Do people go to jail for not paying there cash advances?

Question:
such as borrowing from payday loan companys.

Answer:
The above answers are correct (for now).

But many states are beginning to pass laws and do some serious regulating of these cash advance places. In Michigan, it will not be against the law if the check bounces, once the new rules go into effect.

They are also placing very stiff requirements on how much they can lend at one time, and the interest rate.
Probably not...but, if they catch and charge you, you will have to pay a fine and they will garnishee your wages. It is after all a loan. They will also ruin your credit rating for all future loans.
No they just get a bad credit report.
Nope, it will normally go stright to a civil claims court where the judge will grant the loan company the right to send baliffs into your house to take goods to the value of what you owe, plus expenses, plus whatever they feel like
you can be charged if you wrote a check to be cashed by the payday loan company and it proves to be worthless, court fees attorney fees, fines, possible residency in the local county motel(jail). restitution and or community service. pay them back and don't ever use these rip-off places again.
Depends on the amount. It can be construed as Theft by deception and any amount over $300.00 is a felony. However, if you have no priors then usually they will give probabtion and an alloted period to pay the business plus you will have to pay the court costs associated with the case. If you have priors then it can go a variety of different directions depending on what the prior was and how long ago it was. Hope that helps
not really, they will take you to court and the justice will determine base on principles and agreement guiding that loan, people dont usually go to jail becouse of loan there is
agreement before giving out o loan.
Payday loans require postdated checks to be made out ahead of time. As a result, you are bouncing checks and therefore I do believe that prison time could be an option if the loan company decides to go that far and you refuse to pay. I will never understand how people can get into that trap in the first place. Isn't there enough written about how the daily interest comes to in excess of 300%? I am not ragging on you. We all make mistakes but please have someone bail you out of this... family, friends, employer, etc. Do what you have to do to pay it back and not repeat the process... EVER.
there is spelled THEIR, and companys is spelled COMPANIES.
