Where can you look to find lawyers willing to cake on criminal cases pro-bono?

Question:

A good friend of mine has gotten into trouble with the law. She's a good person, just made some bad decisions with the wrong people. She is facing criminal charges, and needs a lawyer, but is not in a financial position to pay for one outright. I know that some lawyers take on isolated cases pro-bono; how would she go about locating those kind of lawyers? Any websites, resources, physical locations, etc. would be helpful. She lives in Atlanta, GA.

Answer:
Try the Public Defender's office, or the courts, the ACLU, NAACP, and the Legal Aid Office, if there is one. If the person is really strapped for cash and cannot afford a lawyer then the court will have to provide one. I suggest calling attourneys and try to find a good one that will accept installments. Pay him back so much a week or month. A lot of them will work with you on that kind of pay as you go basis. That's better than an overworked and underpaid PD. Many times they know nothing of a case until five minutes before having to enter a plea. Good luck.

Why is every criminal claiming they are innocent, and all their friends and family say they just got in the wrong crowd. Just fess up, they are criminals. They are hell spawn demons infringing on the law abiding.

And then to want a free lawyer. Christ, call legal aid and I hope your friends get serious time.
