I had at least 4 law school classmates who were over 50. In fact, one of them was in her 60s and another was in his 70s. It's never too late if you're motivated enough. The problem you may run into is finding a job after you graduate and pass the bar since prospective employers would likely assume you don't plan to work for many more years. However, if you start networking now with lawyers in the DA's office or defense attorneys in your area (depending on which side you're considering), you'll have a better chance of finding employment later. lets say ti takes 5 years to get a degree. You'll be 55.
If you don't take the class, how old will you be in 5 years?

Your experience and perspective would be an assett. Once you pass the Bar, I am sure you'd be able to find public defender work without a problem (at least that is where I would start if criminal defense was my area of interest).

In many ways, us old-timers are better suited for college. Ask any college professor, he'll take a room full of gray-haired seniors over a room full of high school seniors any day!
