What are the advantages and disadvantages of diet pills?
Question:
Answer:
There are NO advantages to taking diet pills, healthy diet and plenty of excercise is all you need! There are so many disadvantages, you shouldn't even consider taking pills like these :(
Disadvantage: They're all a load of sh!t designed to prey on weak-minded people who think a single pill is going to magically help them lose weight.
Advantage: None.
If they actually work, then advantage: weight loss, disadvantage: potential heart problems. Stuff with ephedra is an example of this. However, most diet pills have pretty benign ingredients that do nothing.
They can be addictive an also they are bad for your heart, there are other ways to lose weight .
No way are there ANY advantages to taking pills...of any kind..unless its for some kind of health issue. If anyone wants to lose weight, there are healthy ways of doing so like eating right and exercising. But nowdays everyone wants the easy and quick way out so they turn to diet pills.Everyone I know that tried diet pills not only ended up losing NO weight whatsoever but the pills caused them their good health and many other problems!
It's extremely bad to think that pills are the answer to everything. A pill to make you lose weight, to go to sleep, to get rid of every ache or inconvenience, to cure every ailment, to get rid of being pregnant and to enable us to go on being wrong, or to exercise every form of self-indulgence without having to use discipline or common sense.
Most of modern medicine now is practiced by prescribing the name of a pill for the name of a condition, sometimes not even considering diet, exercise, lifestyle changes or other factors. This is why the drug companies have become like giant, greedy, out-of-control whores.
This depends on the type of pill you are taking. I work in a nutrition center where we carry a variety of these pills. Unfortunately many people come in believing a pill is going to do the job for them and it simply isn't true. Diet pills in my opinion shouldn't be used at all or if they are only maybe for a short spell in the beginning to help curb appetite (Hoodia works for this)
Some other natural things you can do that will aid in weight loss are to drink green tea and to take a good liquid b-complex vitamin. Liquid is faster and better absorbed into the system and the b vitamins help regulate metabolism. If you like cinnamom sprinkle it on your cereal and in your coffee it helps regulate your blood sugar which in turn can help you manage cravings.
The ONLY permanent solution to weight loss is to approach nutrition and health as a lifelong commitment and to research what you are eating and get a handle on portion sizes. When I lost 40 lbs a couple of years ago I always thought I didn't eat much and in quantity I didn't really but it was what I was eating and my eating patterns that got me in trouble!
If you tend to be an emotional eater or stress makes you have cravings for junk food you could try a product like relacore or one of those that is also a mood enhancer, but again I wouldn't look to this as a permanent solution, it's only a temporary helper as you work to gain control over your own diet etc.
There is TONS of valuable information at a website called calorie-count.com I can't tell you how much I learned here and how supportive everyone was. Can be addictive if used as a crutch.
Symptoms of use - less money for other "luxuries" with your take home pay.
Symptoms of Misuse - Just as fat as before
Get a life and the problem will take care of itself!
There are many more disadvantages than advantages with diet pills.
Disadvantages
99% of then will not work for you. Some out there are just plain garbage and with others they will tell you that you will see results if you diet and exercise. Well most people if they diet or exercise will lose weight on their own.
I do agree with the other comment about Hoodia however, I use hoodia ( http://besthoodiagordonii.com ) and do like it allot.
Many diet pills have stimulents in them which can cause permanent damage to your body.
Many of the side effects are horrible, like a leaky butt and excessive gas.
Most will keep you awake at night.
Once you stop taking the pills, you will probably regain all the weight plus more. While on the pills you have not learned to deal with your issues, or learn how to eat and exercise properly, so once the pills have stopped, you go back to your old ways. Most seem to gain back even more than they lost.
Prescription diet pills can be physically addictive but many over the counter pills can be emotionally addicting. Although, many pills are not addictive to the body, you get to rely on them so much that you can't stay on a diet without them. Breaking the physical addiction of prescription pills is very hard for many people. Usually a therapist can help.
Advantages
Only if you doctor states it's worth the health risk, because you are morbidly obese, I can't see any advantages.
Each diet pill has a different side effect so over use is not always easy to spot. The one basic thing that you should look for is someone going past their goal weight and losing weight to the point that they just look too skiny or unhealthy. Many of the newer pills don't have the obvious side effects as shaky hands, speedy actions, rapid speech ans most no long depend on speed as it's base.
pro: you lose some money
cons: you lose some money realizing that it accomplished absolutely nothing... or worse, hurt your body. look, if pills worked, they'd be approved by the FDA and everyone would be skinny.
