Has anyone lost a good amount of weight without diet pills or surgery?

Question:
what did you do and what did you eat?

Answer:
I lost 18 pounds through diet and exercise with the help of my Dr. and consulting with a registered dietitian. I had to do it because of high tryglyceride levels and low levels of good cholesterol. Eating a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet, small portions, avoiding saturated fats, eating smaller meals more often (instead of 2-3 big meals)

I ate lots of fruits and veggies, soy products (tofu and soy milk, soy nuts etc.) , 8 glasses of water a day. For snacks I used almonds, peanuts, fruit and avoided processed, fried, sugary snacks. Diet sodas were OK. I was already a lacto-ovo vegetrian before this diet, so that part isn't required to get the same results. If you're going to lose weight and still eat meat, you should stick to lean meats in small portions (the size of a deck of cards is the portion the dietitian mentioned)

Most importantly, I took brisk walks (35-40 minutes in length), 5 days a week. By "brisk" I mean covering one mile in less than 15 minutes. The dietitian said it was the exercise that brought my tryglycerides down so quickly (It came down almost 200 points in less than two months)

It was a lot of work but it was worth it. I highly recommend consulting with a registered dietitian. My health care coverage picked up most of the tab.
i worked out 3 hours a day, every day, and lost 30 pounds in 3 months
Atkins for 6 months. 300 down to 212 (I'm 6'3")
I lost 23 lbs in about 3 weeks. I drank a lot of water just over a gallon a day and I ate 5 really small meals instead of 3 normal ones. good luck
yes - i ate something called "dragon toe nail clipping" and i lost 155 lbs just sitting on my bum all day doing nothing. and to think.. i coulda had to work to stay healthy...
Yes! I did still eat eny thing that i like! Just did a lot of running!
Drink lots of water and eat baby food! Small portions but yummy! ;)
Yes about 40 lbs in 4 mo. - just be sure to burn more calories than you take in by exercising
A good amount of weight..I lost about 45 pounds 'doing' Weight Watchers. I had tried all kinds of weight loss pills, shakes, etc. but NONE of them worked like WW. It took me awhile to actually get the ambition to actually sign up and make the commitment, but getting on the scale and hitting almost 200 pounds five years after having two children and only ever wearing a size 6 or less at High School age made me freak out a bit. I did NOT like the idea that I was a few pounds away from being as big as my husband, who is a broad, large man. I was almost a size 20 when I joined. Today, twelve years after I joined, I have stayed within 5 pounds of my original weight after losing the 45 and wear a size 9. By the way I chose not to keep going to the weekly meetings when I hit my goal so you do not have to go every week after you are comfortable with your results. It is your choice! WW gradually gets you where you want to be and you can eat sooooo many yummy things, I highly recommend it!
I didn't really need to lose much, but I started to watch how much salt I was taking in. Started to read labels and cut out prepared foods. Lost almost ten pounds without any effort at all.
I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.

Good LUCK!
I followed my own Kimkins diet and lost 160 lb in 7 months, eventually 198 lbs in less than 1 year.

Kimkins is lean low carb, like Atkins without the fat, like South Beach with less carbs.

It's a strict diet and only for people serious about weight loss (casual diets might like Weight Watchers).
one has to ascend and desentd the 3 floors of building for some 10 times in a single go he has to run over the steps It will bring lot os sweat and stress but its god sign.u can loos 5 Ibs a week
This book called "The Movie Star Diet" helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.
