Tapeworm Diet Pills?
Question:
Does anyone have any information about these "pills" , what are the side effects, or where they can be purchased? I'm really just trying to get as much info as I can.
I want to lose the weight and have tried everything. I walk 3 miles a day and eat less than 1200 calories a day--still no weight loss.
I want to look great for my girls, But I also want to be as healthy as possible and set a good example for them.
Any help about these "pills" would be great.

Wow. I find it very sick and sadistic for someone to even start this rumor... let alone actually make a product containing the eggs/larva of tapeworms for dieting purposes. But that doesn't mean that no one would. You may or may not be able to aquire these "pills" you speak of. BE WARNED! I have to assume that you're sadly uninformed about tapeworms. I want you to read it for yourself. So I'm gonna give you a few links here, the first one is a man's story about when he ACCIDENTALLY got one and the hell he went through... and the others are photos and informative articles. Please read these and think about what you're trying to do to yourself. This would be self-mutilation and VERY VERY DESTRUCTIVE. Possible even FATAL. Definately enough to cause your daughters SERIOUS mental anguish if they ever find out what you did. I'm wondering what kind of mental anguish YOU are suffering to think that this is a good idea for you to do.

I sure hope you found your answer here. For God's sake... please find some other way. This thing could kill you AND IT DEFINATELY WOULDN'T DIE AFTER 1 WEEK ON IT'S OWN! What it will do is completely ruin your life and then POSSIBLY END YOUR LIFE!

The Arizona Republic has raised an interesting question. Is it possible to use tapeworms as a diet aid? Won't the tape worm just sit in your stomach and consume all the extra food you eat, and after a while you can pull out the thing? The basic answer is no. This would not be a good idea. They go into some more details:
While a tapeworm might take in some of the food you do, it would at the same time be taking in a lot of vitamins and other nutrients you need to stay healthy. Do you know what ascites are? A big pool of fluid in your tummy caused by an immune response to something in your guts. Something like a tapeworm. It gives you a big potbelly, which runs kind of counter to the look you might be wishing for. And a tapeworm might not necessarily just set up camp in your innards. It can also cause cysts in your muscles, liver and eyes. Your eyes! So don't you think it might be easier instead to just eat a bit less and exercise a bit more?

Set a good example for your girls by not trying any crazy diets, and by having healthy attitudes about body image and health. I can't understand why you would want to purposely infect yourself with a parasite. They can make you very sick, and I find it hard to believe that they only last a week. If you are even considering this you might have an eating disorder.
I plead with you that you change your perspective and think more about health than looks. As long as you eat healthy and exercise so you have good health, it doesn't matter what you look like. It's important for your girls to know that different women have different body types, but health is the most important thing.
And, by the way, when you exercise you'll build muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, so you might not lose weight at the first. But you will be healthier. And if you don't eat enough, your body goes into "starvation" mode and you won't lose weight because your body is trying to store up as much nutrition as it can. You might not be eating enough. Muscle uses more calories than fat, so the muscle will help with your calorie burning too. Also, our bodies get used to exercise if we do the same amount of exercise for a long period of time. You can get a heart-rate monitor to help you make sure that you are working out in your target heart rate.
You can consult with a doctor and/or nutritionist about these issues. It might not also be a bad idea to see a psychologist. I'm really concerned about you.

Oh Honey no, no, no the thought of it makes me ill. That is so gross. I hope it's just some weird rumor. That is not a good thing to teach your preciuos ones. The only help I can give you about this is to advise you to forget all about it.

If you want to set a good example for your girls, do not go for shortcuts! Life doesn't work that way.
Try to do this:
1. *enhance* the number of calories you eat. 1,200 is not enough. You are keeping your body in starvation mode, which means it will KEEP THE FAT and trash the rest. Optimum range is around 1,400-1,600.
2. run rather than walking, at a 5.2mph and/or up to a point in which your heart beats at 70-75% of your maximum (this is when your muscles burn the fat!), for at least 30 minutes a day.
3. do weight lifting: building muscles will help you burn more fat
4. add some pilates.
Weight loss takes time and dedication, but especially strong motivation. I strongly suggest you to learn to do things for yourself rather than others, whoever such "Others" are. It won't work if you don't do it for yourself.
Sorry, but those pills are an urban legend. They don't exist.
Maybe the reason you aren't losing any weight is that you're eating less than 1200 calories a day. If your body thinks it's being starved, it will hold on to everything it can. You might try making sure you get at least 1200 calories...I'm guessing you probably get busy with your girls and end up skipping meals, meaning you probably end up only getting 800 or so calories a day, which is considered starvation.
You could try some other things for your diet...try taking kelp tablets for the iodine, which stimulates your thyroid, chromium picolinate to decrease cravings for sweets and help your body process sugar, and soy lethicin to help rid your body of fat. Some people will take a supplement that produces heat, such as cinnamon (in capsules) or cayenne peper (also in capsules). Green tea extract has caffeine which helps control your appetite. Drinking plenty of water is good too...it fills you up and helps rid your body of toxins.
try doing cardio instead of walking, really getting your heart rate up with your diet should help you lose weight, also try using weights to build muscle. take a good multivitamin as well. putting the tapeworm will not help, it just eats the food you consume, making you hungrier, and making you eat more. Nothing will get rid of fat faster than GOOD excercise and diet.

First of all, it's probably an urban legend.
Second of all, a tapeworm is a parasite. It will not die and pass out of your body, it will grow and grow until it fills your intestine.
That is not a good way to set a healthy example for your daughters. You might as well be anorexic!
