Does taking a Diet Pill really affect pregnancy?

Question:
You see, i'm taking a diet pill for the past 3 months and my boyfriend and i were intimate a few days ago and it was my ovulation period. We did not use any protection and there's a big chance that i might get pregnant. Does taking a diet pill will cause any side effect with pregnancy? Should i stop taking the diet pills? Some people say that when someone is taking a diet pill, it is also a form of contraceptive. Is that true? Help me please, if I'm pregnant i don't want to cause any complication with my unborn baby. Thanks a lot guys.

Answer:
If you think you could be pregnant, then treat it as though you were, it is the only safe way. And you will love your baby enough that you won't want him to have to suffer throughout his life.

Suddenly everything you do until he is born, and really until he is grown enough to actually care for himself, is going to affect him.

You mentioned diet pills being a contraceptive of sorts.

Any chemical that can cause damage to your own cells can cause damage to your fertilized egg, your child.
If the fertilized egg becomes damaged and can't reproduce correctly, it dies. If the lining of the uterus, the part that comes out with the menstrual flow if you are not pregnant in that cycle, if that becomes chemically or otherwise damaged and not right for hosting the fertilized egg, the egg has no host, and no hope of surviving and dies. Similarly the Pill alters the chemical signal so that your body assumes you are pregnant already, and even though you ovulate on your regular schedule while you are pregnant, even if the second or third on up to the ninth egg becomes fertilized, your womb will not accept another fertilized egg, and that egg passes from your body.

So every chemical you put into your system at that point can cause this to happen.

The stronger chemicals, the ones that affect and alter your body and mind the most, and are commonly referred to as drugs, are definitely out if you even think you are pregnant. If you are pregnant you won't be thinking of what weight loss or gain might be affected by a diet pill. If you have a normal pregnancy you will gain weight. Just laugh about and call it "baby fat".

It's easier than worrying about it.
If you think that you are pregnant then you should stop taking them. They can cause deformities in a baby. They are NOT a contraceptive.
Well I'm not a doctor but you do build up fat when your pregnant which helps the baby grow. Also some carry caffine in them which I heard can put undue stress on the babies system.

I would check with a doctor before continuing anymore.
Umm. I would think that you need to stop taking the diet pills right away for the safety of your unborn baby. At least untill you take a test to find out if your pregnant.
Ok, you do not know if you are pregnant, right?
I suggest you stop taking the pill. In a little while you will know if you're pregnant or not. Then, stop taking the pill for good.It will affect you health and your baby's as well.Ask your doctor, too.He will tell you the same.
Good luck.
Unless you want a shredded and ripped baby you should stop taking them. Seriously, stop taking them till you find out for sure that you're not pregnant. These pills sometimes harm us imagine what can they do to an unborn creature.
First of all, have a careful read of the instructions that should have come with your diet pills. These should say whether or not they can be taken during pregnancy.

If the instructions don't say much, talk to your pharmacist.

If taking this diet pill during pregnancy is not recommended, talk to your doctor, and explain your situation.

You realise that you may not be pregnant. If you haven't fallen pregnant at this stage, then I would suggest that you consider carefully what you (and your boyfriend) want. If you really do want a baby, then I think you need to start planning for the pregnancy and the baby, (for example, it is a good idea to get folic acid supplements before falling pregnant). If you're not quite ready for a baby, then continue trying to lose weight. (You'll be more likely to fall pregnant if your weight is in the correct range.)
yes it does but dont freak out ok,
what you should do is just to stop takin diet pill or any kind w/o consulting ur OB. see ur doctor ASAP and tell him all abt it and see what he says.. so take it easy and congrats (if ever)

=P
You need to stop taking the diet pills, they do not work as a contraceptive. These pills are made from herbs that are very powerful and not approved by the FDA. Taking diet pills during pregnancy is the equivalent of using street drugs like cocaine and methamphetamines.
Of course it would; anything you ingest affects your baby.
It is untrue that diet pills act as contraceptives.
Sounds as though it's time for your to visit your dr., get some information, and generally do some reading about your body, pregnancy, contraception, and general women's health.
You should stop taking the pill straight away in case you are pregnant. Whatever type of pill it is, it will contain chemicals that could harm your child.
Diet pills do not work as contraception, unless you get serious underweight in which case you will stop having periods.
your an idiot go back to school
