How do I quit taking diet pills?
Question:
Answer:
Honestly, its better you consult a specialist to find out what's best for you. I really want to help but I don't think I can give better answers than specialist do. Sorry.
good luck
Love is omnipresence, Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
Find a Narcotics Anonymous group and show up.
Also, see a doctor about the underlying eating disorder.
you need to seek treatment for the addiction and eating disorder. there is probaly a treatment center near you. it will be very difficult to do it alone and being around others will be helpful. those pills will kill you if you don't stop! hopefully you haven't caused permanent damage to your body.
I took them once and i ended up in hospital because my heart was racing so fast. My advice, STOP them now. You're health is more important than a job. You need to see your doctor and tel him/her everything you have been taking and how you feel, and your medical history. They will be able to give you something for the withdrawals. This is a very serious drug, you need help now. go and see your doctor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Just remember it is a job, not a carreer. You still need to stop taking these pills, they are very dangerous, especially if you are not obese!!
Good Luck, ...ring your doc now!!
I was taking phentermine myself at one time and could feel myself slipping into that "addictive" feeling with them. I hear that they are terrible for you and I believe that to be so, because ever since I started taking them (I don't now) I had nothing but problems. I was constipated all the time, dry mouth, irritable, racing heart, couldn't sleep worth a damn at night, and I actually started getting heart arrythmias (irregular heartbeat). I too was buying them off of the internet b/c no doctor would prescribe them to me...I didn't need to lose weight. I started taking the stupid things because I needed some major help with energy and coffee, caffeine pills, nothing helped...however, I did like losing the weight, but everyone kept telling me that I looked like an AIDS patient b/c I got so skinny.what I basically did to quit taking them; I knew that I only had maybe 10 left and I would take 1/2 every day for awhile, then 1/2 every other day, etc. When I started doing this, I knew that I didn't have money to order anymore off the net and I KNEW that I needed to stop taking them anyway.and miraculously, I got through it with no major side effects, but I am on an antidepressant, so maybe that helped. I suggest to you to try to "wean" yourself from them.and give yourself enough time to do that. Don't wean yourself for a couple of days then stop cold turkey...give yourself a week, week and a half to try and wean from them and go from there. If you find that it is still hard to quit taking them, then I would say you need to enlist the help of a professional. The weight gain that you are experiencing when quitting them is normal, of course, but you definitely can find other healthier ways to achieve that goal, and your body deserves for it to be free of these nasty pills :) Good luck. If you would like to talk to me further, find my profile on here and answer one of my questions regarding this and I will give you my email address. Good luck :)
A friend of mine has been addicted to phenetermine for about five years. She can't function without it. I was on it at the same time she started but I didn't take it longer than the few months recommended.
If you haven't been getting them from a local doctor who can help you, you might try to wean yourself off. Take one every other day, then when you feel okay with that, every third day.
The other suggestion someone gave, about going to NA, also might be helpful. There will be people there who've gone through withdrawal and can give you advice.
You also might want to find a Certified Drug and Alcohol Consuler. (CDAC) This is a type of social worker who deals exclusively with matters of addiction--the physical and the mental. Often they are ex-addicts themselves (mine was a former alcoholic who had done just about every drug known to man as well).
I wish you the best of luck.
