Can diet pills cause permanent damage to your metabolism or slow it down after you stop taking them?

Question:
I'm thinking about buying diet pills but I don't want my body to rely on them.
I haven't drank a soft drink or eaten fast food in a couple months but I haven't lost any weight. I've even been watching what I eat and I've recently started exercising again. This weekend (Superbowl) was the one day that I ate fried foods and unhealthy stuff and I step on the scales today and I've gained 5 pounds! I went from 132.5 to 137.5. Could this be because of stress??

Answer:
Diet pilss can give you a kick start but to keep the weight off requires a life style change.
