Im 5'3 and over 300lbs. i drive semi with my husband. which diet pill will help me? anyone know a chat room?
Question:
Answer:
DO NOT TAKE DIET PILLS! They are dangerous!!
Last year I was visiting my parents and took diet pills (Leptopril -does not contain ephedra) on top on my exercise routine and normal diet. I was 26 at the time, 5'11, 180 lbs. By week three I was sick. I had diarrhea, dry heaves, dizziness, headaches, and a general feeling of being sick. I thought I had caught the flu or something. I had lost 13 lbs in 4 days. One morning I told my mom I didn't feel good. My vision kept blacking out and I felt (for lack of a better way to say it) stoned. Later that afternoon I was walking from the bathroom to my bedroom (a 5 foot walk) and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital emergency where they did a bunch of tests on me.
My pulse was up to 120, My blood pressure was 150/40, they had to start me on an IV, the did an EKG on me, took blood and urine samples, and a whole barrage of other tests.
They finally got me stabilized and said that I was dehydrated and malnutritioned. I told him that I took diet pills. When I mentioned diet pill, the doctors face lit up and said that's why. He said they can cause a whole bunch of health problems, including death. He told me to toss the diet pills or next time I might not be so lucky.
I was kept in the hospital for almost 10 hours, given 3 or 4 IVs, potassium, juices, and monitored (by the EKG, blood pressure, and heart rate machines) every 15 minutes.
Please take my story as a warning. If you seriously want to loose weight there are better ways (I know because I've lost weight after this)
The quickest way is to cut out red meats, starches, breads, sugars, alcohol, and sodas.
Eat veggies (salads are good), soups, and drink TONS of water. If you get hungry between a meal, drink water to fill up.
In moderation eat white meats, and fruits (fruits contain natural sugars, and that can put on weight)
Practice portion control. Yes, you'll feel hungry at first, but think of your goal, and soon your stomach will start shrinking and you won't have that feeling anymore.
Eat 5 times a day. A small breakfast. A mid-morning snack, such as an apple. A small lunch. A mid-afternoon snack, such as carrots. A lite dinner. Do not eat any later than 7pm (6pm is better.)
Go exercise for at least an hour a day, incorporating weight training. Weight training builds muscle. Muscle burns fat. You get the idea. It also gives tone and definition. Also do a few yoga and pilates exercises to help tone those hard to reach and stubborn areas.
See a doctor and find a plan that works for you. I wouldn't advise pills; most of them have bad side effects. See if a supervised diet or surgery would work for you.
You reallly need to learn how to eat healthier ad excercise more often. Maybe the job you have isnt the ideal one for you. I wouldnt try a diet pill or any surgery until you are ready to make the commitment to excercise, and eat healthy because you will have to do those things along with the pill or surgery.
Those diet pills are terrible for your heart. Try getting your fiber intake (max recommended). It fills your stomach and blunts the hunger. Metamucil makes fiber caplet pills you can swallow if you aren't into mixing it. Replace candy with fruit - any kind! It's good for you, sweetly satisfying, and it has fiber and prevents cancer.
Drink lots of water. It fills your belly especially combined with fiber.
If you sit on your can in a truck all day then exercize is out the window- you are going to need to focus on nutrition.
To lose weight effectively and keep it off in a healthy way, you need to change your eating habits. Eat healthy: no fatty foods, no sodas, no junk. Eat fresh veggies, fruits, lean meats broiled without heavy sauces, limit your sugar and dairy intake too. Exercise is very important to losing weight, simple walking daily for at least 20 minutes works wonders.
Diet pills are dangerous and will not solve your problem. You will gain the weight back once you stop them. Do it the healthy way, the right way. 300lbs. on a 5'3" frame is very unhealthy, please seek out some help through Weight Watchers for ideas on eating, exercise, support. Good luck and take care of yourself. And, don't forget to include your husband.

I am 46 )
You are a truck driver and you have not discovered stimulants yet. Thats what most diet pills are. Stimulants. You should see a nutritionist and work on diet. Not ever having driven a long haul truck, but I would begin by leaving the resteraunts alone or remembering those that have low fat minues. You are not very active so you caloric intake will have to be low, probably about 1900 calories at most. Thats for maintaining your current weight. You will probably need to go slow with this and take in about 1400 calories per day. Even then it will be tough. If you can manage to get a refridgerator on that truck, get you some good healthy snacks and put in there. I love apples and bananas. Snack throughout the day and eat smaller meals. To loose 300 pounds will require proffesional help so don't try to go it alone. Also, your husband must support you in this.
I personally did the no salt, no sugar diet. It basically consists of carbs and protiens and you have to eat 4 meals each day and 2 snacks. Portion sizes are key. The reason eating more (of healthly food) helps you lose weight is because your metabolism is 'kick started' and will burn fat while you are just sitting there, it doesn't start instantly, but after 2 or 3 weeks, you will notice changes. Of course pairing this diet with at least 3 days of cardio for 30 minutes would be ideal. Talk to a nutrionist or a doctor to find out about the no salt/no sugar diet so you can find your ideal weight for your age and height, portion sizes you should be eating and how long you should attempt a diet like this. It is hard, but it's so worth it! I went from 200lbs to 125. From a plus size to a size 4. Once you get past the first week, you will be golden.
A diet pill isn't going to do the work on its own. I understand with your job it's hard to find time to exercise and from my own experience I know it's TOUGH to eat well on the road. The best thing you can do is to pack light meals for yourself. If you can bring an ice chest to keep your food cool. Turkey lunch meat, bread, fruits, water (no soda!). Make sure you keep those portions small if you choose to eat fast food (Kids meal!) There are plenty of exercises you can do on the road once you get to your destination point a la Jack Lalane. Good luck.
i am 5'11 I weigh about 180 I use to weigh about 275.I became a housewife so I had basically no activity during the day. This sounds mean and crude Bi,what i did was everytime I wanted to eat something bad.I would think about what I look liked in a two-piece bathing suit and it movated me not to eat junk I still do that i hate to tell you this because it seems so vain.I am currently at 180 and still have about 40 more pounds to be where I truly want to be.I also take n.v. please read instructions on these pills the are very strong pills.
Before you eat eat snack on a bag of walnuts about 30 min before your meal. This fills you up so that you don't eat so much.
best of luck
Do what I do when I want to lose weight: eat morsels. If you need to go to McDonalds, order the kids meal instead of getting the supersized one. Start eating more fruits and vegetables. Believe it or not, if you force yourself to eat a few servings of fruits or vegetables (with a serving of chicken breast or fish) for lunch or dinner, it will fill you up faster and longer than a greasy meal from a fast food joint. I know you're on the road a lot and its hard to eat healthy, but you have to try. Buy protein bars or slim fast drinks and eat/drink them in place of breakfast or lunch, the heaviness of the bars/drinks will fill you up for a very long time. Its probably hard for you to work out, but if you change your diet (at least), it can make all of the difference. But sooner or later, you will have to do some sort of physical workout. Maybe if youre on break, do a short sprint. Its true what they say: "a little bit goes a long way". Seeing that you're 5'3 and over 300 lbs, if you stick to a low-calorie diet, filled with more vitamins and minerals and less fats, the weight will come off easily. Talk to a doctor and he will give you better advice. Good Luck!!
