I just started the diet pill phentermine?
Question:
Answer:
Phentermine is habit forming. You can become physically and psychologically dependent on this medication, and withdrawal effects may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after several weeks of continuous use. Talk to your doctor about stopping this medication gradually.
Phentermine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite.
Phentermine is used as a short-term supplement to diet and exercise in the treatment of obesity.
Phentermine may also be used for other purposes.
If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking phentermine and seek emergency medical attention:
an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives); an irregular heartbeat or very high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision); or hallucinations, abnormal behavior, or confusion.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take phentermine and talk to your doctor if you experience restlessness or tremor, nervousness or anxiety, headache or dizziness, insomnia, dry mouth or an unpleasant taste in your mouth, diarrhea or constipation, or impotence or changes in your sex drive.
I'm not familiar with Rx diet pills. Can you stay on this pill indefinitely? If not, what is the doctor going to do to help you control your weight once you reach your goal? Theoretically, if you cut your cals in half and were still gaining, unless your "half cals" were well over 2000 a day, once you get off the pill you'll be right back where you were before you started it.
Eat right, keep cals around 1500 a day (no lower than 1200 unless your doc okays it), and exercise 5 days a week (at least 1 hour). That will trigger weight loss in most folks (unless there is a medical issue). Around 1 - 3 lbs/week lost is a good rate, with good chances of being able to maintain the loss long-term...anything over 4 lbs/wk and your risk of putting the weight back on increases (because weightloss faster than that tends to be due to unhealthy practices that can't be maintained long term).
Good luck!
I take the pill and I have lost 26 pounds in 2 months. Remember to eat plenty of veggies/fruits and try some slim fast with the diet. Also exercises and get it in your spirit and mind that you want to lose the weight for yourself.
