Hoodia diet pills are definitely legal in Australia. In fact, I don't think they're illegal in any country that I'm aware of, but I do know for sure they are legal in Australia. You don't need any special permit or anything like that to purchase hoodia either. The only thing you'll have to verify is if the company you order from ships to Australia as many don't.
There aren't a lot of brands I recommend because most of the hoodia supplements on the market today are fake.
