Has anyone used the new weight loss pill alli? Do you have to follow a strict diet?

Several dieters who are taking the new over-the-counter fat-blocking pill, Alli say the medication is keeping them from cheating on their diets because hey know that if they eat too much fatty food they might experience an urgent need to go to the bathroom, oily discharge, gas, or loose stools.

The drug will block about 100-200 fat calories a day. At that rate, they would lose an extra pound every 2.5 to 5 weeks. One patient has lost 35 pounds in six months while on Xenical (prescription version of Alli) because she changed her life style and eating habits in order NOT to deal with the side effects from cheating.

Per Alli people, Sales of Alli “are lining up with our expectations,” “People have to know that this is a program; it’s not a magic pill. They have to stick to this healthy, low-fat diet.”

Benefits are also likely to be short-lived. Alli is marketed for short-term use only, and follow-up suggests that people start to regain weight once they stop taking it.

Because Alli works on the digestive system and not the brain (telling you that you are full) You will have the same difficulties (fighting the need to eat high carb foods) that you have been having while on any other diet.

Best of luck……..Hope it works !

P.S. Purchase the product from GNC, you can at lease return it after 2 weeks.
Not a "strict diet" but a Low fat one.
High fat foods will make you sick on Alli.
Um, read the label, moron!
You will have to follow a low fat diet. The more fat you ingest...the worse your diarrhea will be!
Make sure you take along extra undies everywhere you go...you are gonna need them!
itis better if you eat want you want but hold out of pop, chips, an junk food except for special ocasions and cut down the portion sizes you eat and exercise once or twice a day then to take a diet pill that may have more than one side affect or might nt work at all
read the label dopedo my kids or grandma would say.
If you`ve looked into this,it says, you HAVE to eat less, and you HAVE to exercise to get good results. If you eat the wrong foods, you`ll be spending a lot of time on the potty.
Hmmm...I think Id rather exercise and watch what I eat and forget the Alli.
If you're a junk food junkie then you might consider the diet you need to follow "strict", but it only has to be low in fat. It does require reading labels, so if you don't want to do that either, then you probably shouldn't take Alli. If you follow the low-fat part, you will be PERFECTLY FINE. And if you don't it's the exact opposite, believe me. When I do follow my low-fat diet though, I don't feel restricted at all. There are plenty of great foods that are low in fat, so I don't feel like i'm starving myself or anything. And i'm eating all day it feels like. I love this pill, and except for the 2 times I cheated (and suffered MAJOR consequences), I never felt any stomach problems, had any accidents, nothing at all...i felt perfectly normal, and thinner!! (in the first week i lost 5 lbs.)
I haven't personally, but my coworker has. you have to follow a very strict diet, basically no fat. If you eat something fatty, this pill blocks the fat from being absorbed and you find yourself having like liquidy (is that a word :) bowel movements that you can't even control. I guess she hasn't figured out what to eat yet, because on yesterday, she told me she messed up the seat of her car!
Alli is a complete waste of money. If anyone ever read the warnings or the info on their web site, nobody would take the stuff.

The reality is, in the manufacturer's own tests before they released the product, people who took Alli lost less than 1 lb a month more over the course of 12 months than people taking a placebo. You should just find out what the placebo was and go with that.

If you really want to lose weight, you have to accept that you need to eat right and exercise. There are plenty of great programs you can follow that will give you real results and cost less than Alli. Check some out here:

Alli is okay if you dont mind spending $60.00 a month for a pill that may take off 5 pounds in a month. But only if you stay on a strict diet!! You have to start out on a low fat diet first before you start the pill. Atleast they are honest about what to expect from the pill. It will not work unless you are strictly on a lowfat diet. I will not buy more because I figured I'll just stick to the low fat diet and lose weight on my own.
So far I have lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks. You have to follow the diet as well. High fat meals will result in diarrhea. The most common side effect is oily spotting. I would recommend wearing a panty liner the first week.

Check out the Alli website for more information. I have found the nutritional tracker very helpful.

I've taken Alli since it came on the market, about 4 weeks. In that time I have lost 8 pounds without changing my diet or exercise. I have changed from an evening heavy meal to a lite meal. I eat a heavier meal at lunch.

I have no real side effects. Loose stools but certainly not out of control. I can handle meetings, etc without worry. I think they advertise the side effects so they don't get sued by some nut case. For me it is an excellent experience. I am excited to see where my weight ends up.
