My daughter is 9 and has a super slow metabolism. She also has severe hearing loss. We have taken her to several doctors for her weight to check her glands and anything else that might mess up her metabolism. Everything is ok. They gave her an adult pill to help her fall asleep for her MRI and she never did fall asleep. They said this proves how slow it is. She weighs 160 now. Is there any safe pill we can give her to get her started with a healthier diet and excer. If she is going to go thru this I think faster results at the begining would help her. Last time she was on the Atkins diet for 2 wks she did loss 6lbs. but was very upset all the time. Please Help. I don't want to drug her up but just feel it might help her self esteem at the beginning.

Ok even though she has a slow metabolism she still needs alot of calories for growth. To speed up her metabolism get her to start eating about every 2-3 hours. Small meals though and stick to protiens that are low in fat, fruits and vegetables. I let my daughter eat power crunch protien bars for snacks occasionally to. They have no sugar in them and they taste like cany bars. Eating more often in the day and smaller meals will naturally boost her metabolism. Also get her to exercise 3-4 times a week. Go one a walk with her for 30 minutes.
I can't tell you her healthy weight though because it also depends on her height.
