It can make the baby be born under weight and premature. Its very unhealthy. Talk to your doctor he will strongly advise against it.
The active ingredient varies in diet pills, but whichever pill it is, the purpose is to speed up the metabolism and slow the hunger. Most of the ingredients that do that are stimulants, such as caffeine. They speed up the heartrate as well.
I would NOT recommend taking diet pills while pregnant, as they can speed up the baby's heartbeat as well. But talk to your doctor, s/he will be the one with the final say.
Don't worry too much about weight gain while you are pregnant. Hopefully you are planning on breastfeeding, and if so, you will lose a lot of weight from it. Most women I know get smaller than before they were pregnant while they breastfeed. After you quit, just be aware of your eating habits, and maintain excercize and healthy foods. You could start taking diet piils again then, if you feel it's necessary.
It's hard to say as a lot of those diet pills aren't fda approved. As long as you stopped as soon as you found out, then you should be okay. I would tell your doctor about it when you go for your visit. She/he may have more incite on the subject. Good Luck! I wouldn't stress too much.
A lot of people drink, smoke and worse before they know they are pregnant. At this point, there’s nothing you can do about it, so don’t drive yourself crazy worrying. If you had done severe damage, you probably would have miscarried by now.
Now that you do know, make sure you go to all your doctor appointments and get all your blood work done. That is the best way to monitor how your baby is developing and if there is something wrong. Make sure you’re eating well and taking your prenatals.
most diet pills are stimulants, if you stopped it may not have any effect , but I knew a girl who took crystal meth when she was pregnant and her baby was born with her guts outside her belly.
I was doing the same thing. I don't know what it could do (the doctors told me not to worry though, siting cases of mothers who go like 6 months without knowing they are pregnant and doing all sorts of unhealthy things and their babies turned out fine), but I do know that the diet pills were the reason my birth controll pills didn't work. Spread to the word! Diet pills and birth control pills don't mix!
