Is it advisable to take diet pills when trying to lose weight?
Question:
Answer:
Absolutely not.
All diet pills are marketing scams that target people who are trying to find the "lose-weight-quick-with-no-eff... alternative. The diet supplement industry has only one purpose, which is to make money. Everything is a business. If there was a quick, easy and effective answer to battling obesity, do you think that America would still be the world's fattest country? People are lazy and guess what? Losing weight is not easy and diet pills will cause severe damage to your body.
It is pretty simple to lose 5-10 pounds over a weekend just by not drinking water because water makes up 70% of your body. However, all of the weight that you lose will be muscle, which is not what you should be targeting. The weight that you should be losing is FAT and the healthiest way to lose fat is through exercise and nutrition. You should never lose more than 3 pounds per week, because anymore than 3 pounds means that you lose your muscle and that is not what you want.
The human body is a unique system that automatically adjusts to your daily calorie intake. This is why uneducated people go on starve-diets eating barely anything all day. They can lose 20 pounds in two months, then lose 10 pounds in 3 months, then stop losing any weight at all. They are exhausted because they are not getting any nutrients and they finally give up on their diet. They gain all of their weight back, however, now they have less muscle and even more fat so they are worse off than they started. The body automatically adjusts to your diet. When you eat little, the body goes into starvation mode where it begins to gain energy through muscle. The more you eat and the more muscle you have, the faster your body’s metabolism works to burn the fat.
The weight scale does not accurately display how overweight you are. It is your body fat percentage that shows how overweight you are. For example, if you take a bodybuilder who is 6 feet tall who has only 8% body fat, and you take an average overweight man who is also 6 feet tall and has 20% body fat. The weight scale will show that they both weigh 240 pounds. However, muscle weighs more than fat, which is the reason a healthy bodybuilder can weigh the same as an obese man. This is why you should not judge yourself by the amount of pounds you weigh. I advise that you attend a doctor and get your body fat percentage measured to determine how overweight you may be.
Most importantly, I strongly suggest that you start a diet that is rich in nutritious foods. If you are serious about becoming healthy and developing an athletic body, you have to eat small frequent meals (around 5-6 a day with 2-3 hour intervals) and stop eating fast food and junk food. No chips, no chocolate, no McDonalds etc.
If you’re looking for a good way to lose fat, I suggest researching the zig-zag diet. It is the best proven way to lose fat.
Anyway, I hope this helped some people because it took me an awfully long time to write it.
Good luck and remember, your body is in your hands.
Eh, there's evidence that they work, but in teh long run, 90% of the people gain teh weight right back on. You have to learn to control your eating habits in a healthy way. I find keeping a diary helps and when I see it showing too much food, I tend to stop eating much. Join this site and keep up with it: www.fitday.com
No because its always possible you could become addicted to the pills
Try to stop binge eating and get your blood sugar normal. What I mean is stop eating so much carbs and high salt foods and eat more veggies and fruit. Whole wheat breads with olive oil and canola oil only. think healthy not starvation dieting.
do it the natural way thru diet, cardio and patience, green tea is a good stimulator
as long as you use diet pills as one of the tools to loose weight not the only source of weight loss then its perfectly fine. Hoodia extract is a huger suppressant. If your cutting calories make sure you get your amino acids even supplimenting with them to prevent access buildup of cortisol (fat storing hormone) and get lots of vitamin C. Vit C suppresses cortisol and builds the immune system. I recommend drinking lots of water average of 1 galon a day, 5-6 small healthy meals (1cup or 8oz), 30 min of cardio 3-4 times a week, and getting a regular 7-8 hours of sleep.
I recommend not cutting calories farther than 1500 a day though too much and the body goes into a catabolic (muscle burning mode) and the common mistake... crunches are not good for loosing weight and should not be done more than twice a week or your going to be just breaking the MUSCLE DOWN not burning fat.
WATER transports fat through the body to be used for energy and when you drink more water your body sheds off access water weight.
Another reason why water is so poplar amongst dieters is because it causes you to eat less. Before you go to a restaurant or a party where you know that there will be a lot of food (or even very tempting unhealthy foods) drink a lot of water. Water has a tendency to give you a very "full" feeling, however it has no caloric value.
Green tea or EGCG also raise metabolism, block some calories, and promotes fat oxidation.
There are healthy and natural ways to curb your appetite. Foods that are high in fiber and high in protein make you feel more full. Foods that are high in sugar and carbs will move through you quickly and make you feel hungry more quickly.
You can successfully lose weight while still eating on a regular basis. I personally eat 6 meals every day and I was able to lose 20lbs in 6 months. You have to realize when you eat that your brain is about 15 minutes behind your mouth when it comes to eating. This means that it will take about 15 minutes for your brain to tell your body that it isn't hungry after you eat a sufficient portion of food.
