I have diabetes and I tried diet control, it was very hard so I went to pills. That lasted a while but my blood sugars were never very stable. I am pregnant now and my doctor has put me on insulin shots, its the best thing that he could have done. Since I have been on the insulin my blood sugars are normal about 99% of the time which is a very good thing. Even people taking the pills may have to go on shots later in life due to how the pills work in the body.
My husband and I both have diabetes. He has an insulin pump inserted into his side because his diabetes had been out of control. It works well for him when he watches it closely. I usually keep mine under control with diet when I'm not on steroids for my asthma, then I use shots and watch it a little closer. Being on steroids has triggered my diabetes and many other serious health problems. When I was on steroids for a long period of time, I took pills and shots to try and maintain it. When I finally was able to get off steroids, I no longer needed either regularly but would occasionally need a shot if I was sick or stressed out. But for anyone who has diabetes, please take care of your feet, skin, and eyes.
i was discovered to be a type 2 diabetic in August of 98. i take pills and am supposed to watch my diet. i am supposed to have a low sugar diet for my diabetes, a low carb. diet for my heart. this leads to two problems. 1 the two diets don't allways match and i can't always afford the right foods. my sugars are a little high yet according to my dr.. exercise would help a lot. but, i usually work 6 days a week and i'm 2 tired to exercise. good luck
