How can I send a fax via the Internet to a fax number...and not pay for it?

Question: I have tried various softwares on the internet that allow you to fax via the web to any physical fax machine...but they charge too much and most of them charge by the month. I wanted to see if there is something other than these...I have checked efax, myfax, 32bit internet fax and some others.
