Can i hook my fax up to my computer and recieve fax from internet DSL line?
Question:
Answer:
The answer to your question is yes, but I don't think it will work the way I think you want it to work.
I'm pretty sure you are confused with how ADSL works on your phone line. Your ADSL service uses the same phone line as your voice phone or a fax machine would. ADSL uses a different frequency on the same phone line, which allows both ADSL and voice calls to commence at the same time on the same line without interrupting each other. In other words, you can hook up your fax machine to the same phone line as your ADSL service is on, and they should run together save some noise filters that you may need to operate your fax machine.
Another option you may look into is a virtual fax service, such as eFax (http://efax.com). This and similar services act like a fax machine with it's own independent phone number, but without the machine or having to pay for another phone line. Your faxes will be E-mailed to you as a PDF file when received. Costs for most of these services are pretty inexpensive, and usually amount to less than the cost of a dedicated phone line for your fax machine.
Sort of, yes. You can sign up for an online fax service, like jfax.com (you can search yahoo! for others) and they will let you send and receive faxes via the internet. It's a cool service, but it costs money. If you just want a local telephone number to receive faxes, jfax can do that for free. If you want a toll-free number or want to receive faxes, then you have to pay.
Conventional fax machines cannot receive faxes from the internet.
