I have a broadband connection for my internet. I am not able to send faxes from my PC.?
Question:
Answer:
Installing the modem will not interfere with your INternet connection since the modem will only be used to call fax machines and not to your internet service provider (ISP).
Your PC is connected to the ADSL modem with a Cat-5 network cable, so you really only have one modem connected to your PC. The internal voice / fax modem will only be used when the fax software (usually set up as a printer) needs to send or receive a fax.
Just be sure not to use the internal modem to dial into your ISP.
I hope this helps.
I hope you have not plugged you DSL modem into your internal 56k modem.
Install the telephone modem into the last PCI slot on your computer. That would be the slot closet to the edge of your motherboard.
In the ISA slot days the communication devices had to be last.
There is software available that can use your Internet DSL for faxing, but it might be easier to use one on the email to fax services on the Internet, they're pretty cheap.
Having a separate modem for faxing certainly can be done. I would review your current system's use of interrupts and com ports to avoid any conflicts and also verify the modem can use the available resources. Some modems are fussy about which interrupt they will work with.
