efax is good but you have to becareful as they will bombard you will lots of promo via email onces they get hold of your address. Additionally, the free service is not always that reliable. I tried receiving back to my free number and the line is always engaged.
Then again it's a free service. according to eOpinions they only have a 2 star rating.

Efax.com is free for SENDING faxes only. You have to pay for the premium service in order to be able to receive faxes. If you have Windows XP you have a fax built in your computer as long as you have a modem installed. Click START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES,COMMUNIATIONS, and then FAX. If you do not have FAX installed you can go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and Add/REmove Windows Components to add it. The system will install the fax software and then reboot to be able to use.
