You plug the fax machine into the phone line, nothing to do with the cable internet.
Insert the cable providers line into Phone point of your Cable Modem. U can see another point named Line, lay RJ11 cable from Lane poin to your All in One printer/Fax/Copier machine.

In All in one, if u want to use ur fax services then u must have to plugin phone line bcoz fax is working with t1 line only. any one want to send the fax to u, person frist dial ur fax no. then its possible to connect ur fax and u got fax. if u dont do this then person who want to send the fax how can recognize ur fax.
in fax machine there is no use of ur internet cable (bandwidth)
