Hi, if your OS is Windows XP, have a modem, telephone line and preferably a scanner, you can actually setup your own fax on your PC.
First, you need to install the Fax Services.
Go to your Printers and Faxes folder. Under Printer Tasks, you should see "Set up faxing". Click on it to install the Fax Servcies. You might be prompted for your Windows XP CD. (Note: If your system has a i386 folder, you can direct it to point to this folder instead of inserting your CD.)
After this is done, you should see a fax icon in your Printers and Faxes folder. Double click on it and do the neccessary configuration to setup your own fax! Remember to select your modem as the fax device.
It's almost done! Only thing left to do is pluck in your telephone cable to your modem, scan your document, save it to your PC and you will be able to send your first fax.
