Business Cards / Flyers / or Brochures ?

Question:
which one is more effective?
Business cards are small and portable, Flyers I see as a middle ground of the three. Brochures give the most info. I would think.
In what order would you rate them as a Martial Arts Business need and why?

Answer:
I think that brochures are the best way to get information to a new student or a visitor. With a trifold brochure you can put your background on one section, class information on one section and information about the style you teach on the last. having premade packets for visitors is great. The information inside can be read when they get home.

Business cards are great for small compact information. basics on the front and a free lesson coupon on the back. Fill in the time and day for the particular class on the back with your signature. You might give up one or two free classes, but you could also gain some students to.

Flyers are okay to hang on notice boards. The problem with this is they can be covered up or taken down. They can be put in a window. But, if they aren't done correctly they can be more of a down fall than a help.

A booth in a mall during a fitness or a kid oriented showing works well. Have a give away for a free month as a drawing. Put a demo together having kids and adults in it. The more age diversity you have the better the impact.

There are many more ideas that can be done to promote a school. The only limitation is your imagination.
Biz cards are a must...but they serve a different purpose. biz cards are good for referrals and getting your name out there

However, from an advertising stand point, I would say Brochures are nice. flyers are genereally cheesey and not anywhere near as respected

Thats my 2 cents as an advertising major..
It largely depends on the context. Business cards are better to keep in your pocket, or on the front desk/counter at your school; when you meet someone new and have a chat with them about martial arts, you give them your card. Kind of like the ending of a sales pitch, and they should really only have your school name, phone number, and address on them. Flyers are used more like posters, you post them up on bulletin boards, at colleges, coffee shops, gyms, etc. They have your school name, address, phone number, and some generic information about your school, maybe with some kind of introductory deal or quality promise. Brochures are usually handed out at events, competitions, or demonstrations, and should contain the most information about your schools' programs, achievements, prices, etc. Brochures should be of higher quality than the others and have at least one picture (preferably color) from/of your school. You might consider keeping brochures at the front desk/counter of the school with the business cards. I would say the single most effective of the 3 would be flyers, because these are seen by the most people, and if you have an attention getting logo, slogan, or bargain/introductory offer you can bring in a lot of curious people. The most effective of all would be to use all 3, always keep bus. cards in your pocket, keep flyers in your car so everytime you run across a cork/public bulletin board you can post up some, and lastly have yourself and your students participate in competitions, or go to martial arts seminars, and hand out brochures to every person who will take one. If you get creative, and are dedicated to doing all 3 I'm sure that your school will quickly have the highest volume of students of all the schools in your area.
i think that flyers tend to get out there more and are more noticable, then the business cards. the brochure is something fancy that you might want to have on hand in your school for people that have to have something to read.
I tend to use Business crads as you can hand them over and also describe you art and how people can join person to person.
