I have a small business and am not set up to take Credit Cards?

Question:
I have a customer in Singapore that gave me my first good order, and he can only pay with a credit card. He will not or cannot use PayPal. Isn't there another way he can use his Credit Card so I could get the money? I hope so. Thanks

Answer:
You really need a credit card merchant account. I do not see how you can do business without one. Paypal is a good way but like you have seen not all people trust it. Even if you were able to accept credit cards you may not be able to process an out of country card anyway. I have tried to accept non USA cards and they were declined. When you have a credit card machine and the card is not present it will ask for the CVV code, zip code, and some machines ask for address numbers. You may need to rethink the whole transaction. I feel like it may be a scam. If you do get a merchant account purchase your own equipment. In the long run you will come out cheaper. I even purchased a second machine on ebay for $100.00 dollars that I use for road shows. Best of luck to you.
no. try to get set up for credit cards. or tell him to pay with a check.
I would question his hesitation to use Pay Pal.Neither party sees the others financial info, only a scammer would be wary of Pay Pal...
Credit card payment will cost few percent (2 – 5%) to the vendor. Unless you have big customer’s purchase (you can set minimum amount for credit card payment) where your margin will be more to cover the charges and you are sure by accepting credit card you will increase your sales (by customer’s impulse buying), then you’d better avoid credit card payment..
Credit card payment is safer as your money goes straight to your bank account instead of cash being kept in your store.
It's easy to open a merchant account. Your bank can do it for
you. Yes you'll pay a percentage but you'll probbaly increase sales very quickly. You don't need a credit card machine. If you are only taking credit cards by phone or computer you need a payment gateway. I use Cybersource which has been flawless. You enter the customers credit card online, they take 2 - 3% and your money goes directly into your bank account.
Personally I don't accept Paypal just because their fees are too high.
CAREFUL ...You are about to get scammed!! If he will not use paypal then he probably is using a stolen credit card .. don't be fooled. Paypal is safe for both the buyer and seller..there is no reason for him to refuse that form of payment..
I too own a small business and sell internationally. My overseas customers do one of two things, they pay utilizing Paypal or wire the money directly to my bank account. If they are unwilling to do either, they are not my customer, period.

Many (new contacts) have tried to scam me, none have succeeded. You have to be willing to walk away from the sale if they don't meet your terms, or you can ship the goods for free, because you likely won't be paid for them.
