I made some business cards, now what?

I am a student trying to make some bucks. I decided to make some business cards for pet sitting. I have done the pet sitting many times but I need more clients. I am wondering what the best way to distribut them is. Should i buy something to put them in so that they can be set on a desk. Should i tie little milk bones to them? Any suggestions will be helpful. Also what would be a good store to go to for supplies like the little business card holder..

You're off to a good start by having something to give people. Make sure you carry them around with you whereever you go and start telling people what you're up to. With friends, let them know and give them some cards to have on hand to give to other people. With people that you just meet, make it a part of your intro, my name is ---i'm studying ---, and I am a pet sitter if you ever need one. This is not the time to be shy! If you take your own dog on walks and come across another dog with owner, give 'em a card. Make sure you have at least 3 references ready to give new clients. Staple cards to bulletin boards at local stores, small mom/pop pet stores/grooming services/doggie day cares/etc, storage places (people might want a place for their pets to be out of the way when moving), dog park entrances ... this should get you started on thinking of places. Along the way, you might come up with some flyers that show you and your happy pet clients. You can get cheap plastic business card holders at any walmart or office supply store. Start with a couple to have on hand. Try different ideas with the cards (bows/bones/? attached) and see what works!

I'd talk to local pet stores and pet grooming stores to see if you can put the cards on a bulletin board or their counters. Also give some to the store owner/manager to hand out.

If you want some card holders just go online and get some low cost ones.

I would post your card in local grocery stores, restaurants, bars, schools, etc- or make an eye catching flyer with those little pull off strips with your number on them

try local pet shops, animal shelters, and vets to reach your core market- meet the people there in person and see if they will hand out your card

you can put ads up in local grocery stores, pet stores, departemnt stores...anywher they sell pet products (usually have bulletin boards) then I would give a few to current clients and see if they may know someone.

next time you go to the pet shop or the vet be friendly and hand them out when you see people struggling walking dogs or anything just be friendly and hand them out give them a few extra to hand out to their freinds and some local pet shops will probally let you leave a stack of cards around for their customers to take as they please
