Because a business card is so small, the font would probably need to be small as well. Therefore, the best font to use is 'Verdana' - a common font for the web as well. This is because the typographer has specfically tailored each letter to be still readable from a great distance away and/or small size.
And yes, it's still hip. Simple is safe. Avoid curly fonts like comic sans at all costs.
