What size is a logo usually on a business card?

Question:
in terms of pixels, or inches?
I would say appx 1/2 inch or 1/5th of the size of the card, You want to leave enough room for the written information.
Keep it down to less than an inch square--you want to keep it recognizable, but it's more important that you don't crowd the print information (company name, contact information, title, etc.).
If you're going for a standard business card... then yes follow the guidelines above. However.. you can always go as big as you want if your designing a two sided card. There are a million different layouts just make sure to design a card using a style that matches the business you are designing it for.
It can be any size, I have made them come off the card before..and only used partial for the effect...as a graphic artist you get all different sizes of logos...the secret is never go below 7 points on fonts and realize what your focal point is..what do want them to see first?
