During business meetings, do I give my business card to a very senior person as well?
Question:
Answer:
Well If everybody exchange the cards you too can do it.
You can also give it later after the meeting is over. It all depends upon your role in the meeting. If you do contribute or do any presentation etc why not!
If you are going to do any work for this person, or need to be in contact with him, I'd give him a business card. He may need to get in touch with you.
yes you can give your card why not? you are entitled to give it out, how do you think the seniors got to were they are, they started out at the bottom and built their way up ok go for it
Yes, so that he can get your name right.
As a professional Salesperson I can tell you the answer is definately: YES! Networking is always important, and if this person is a superior that means you want him to remember you. Now, I'll be honest here, you might get a look or two, but those are good! You will be remembered for that, and regardless of how they thought about you handing them the card, they'll remember you as a real aggressive self-starter. Those are positive traits. You want to make that impression and you can do it with a solid handshake and handing your business card to everyone! You never know when knowing Susan in the Mailroom is going to come in handy!
Don't just stop short with the card though, talk to them. Give yourself two to three minutes to ask some pretty general questions about them. People love talking about themselves. Ask a question, and when you get an answer relate it to something about you and ask another. Then move on.
