Is It Taboo to give a business card to.?
Question:
I got the interview through a recruiter... so the company don't know of me: only that the recruiter is sending me to apply for a contract position.??
Answer:
Absolutely not, that is a brilliant thing to do. You will stand out more than anyone else, and they won't have to look for your resume to call you, they have your card with the basic information on how to get a hold of you. Those little pieces of paper are how people network, and networking will get you everywhere! Well done and good luck!
no that's fine, you're you, and that's what they want, not the fake you
I don't think it is necessary to give your business card along with your resume. Your resume should contain all the information that the business card has, so it would be redundant to give both. Honestly, giving a business card to an employer along with a resume seems a bit cocky. I've been in charge of hiring some people for my company, and if any of them handed me a business card, I probably would have been put off.
Good luck!
Its not in bad taste at all. Its giving them a personal oppurtunity to contact you, thus giving a very confident look to your interviewer.
Its always good to look confident when talking to someone at your place of hire.
It appears you are giving the company the opportunity to circumvent paying the recruiter by contacting you directly instead of through the recruiter. If that's the case then I would not work for a company who is ethically challenged. As a contractor I would think they would expect you to have a card, but I'd hand it out in parting, if they are asking for your contact information, or you could send the card with the 'thank you' note for the interview..
