MS Publisher would be your best option and is more user friendly than other programs. If your laptop is new it should come with a MS office trial version. However, MS Publisher is only included in the Professional version. Therefore, I guess you don't have any other option but to buy it. Now you can either buy the program by itself which will cost you between $50 - $80 or you can get the whole office professional package for about $350 bucks depending where you buy. So the choice is yours. Your best bet is to find a friend who has the program and borrow it. Just make sure the CD has not been installed and activated more than 3 times or it will not work.

try corel photopaint it's really cheap compared to adobe photoshop. and it's easy for a beginner if you have a book that will guide you, there's not much online tutorials around about it.
